#6: Concord AD/Baseball HC Kevin Garrett announces his retirement from both roles but will continue to serve the department as a consultant moving forward. Asst. AD/Women’s Soccer HC Luke Duffy and SWA/Women’s Basketball HC Tesla Southcott will take over as Co-AD’s. As an athletic administrator, Garrett oversaw the growth of Concord Athletics from 2009-2024. In the dugout, he racked up 570 wins from 1996-2010 and 2016-2024. Garrett: "I've been very grateful to lead Concord Athletics over the last 15 years. I have a lot of great memories in seeing Concord's success and growth. I look forward to assisting Luke and Tesla in however they may need me in the future." (link)

#4: West Liberty removes the interim tag in naming Brad Forshey as Director of Athletics after he assumed leadership of the department following the retirement of Lynn Ullom back in the fall of 2023. President Tim Borchers: "Brad has demonstrated innovative thinking during his time as the Interim Athletic Director and has worked to strengthen the culture in the Athletic Department. I am excited to see him implement his ideas for the program and improve the experience for our student-athletes." Forshey: "I'd like to thank Dr. Borchers and the search committee for this tremendous opportunity. I am truly humbled to be named the next Director of Athletics at West Liberty University. For nearly half my life, I've been able to call West Liberty home. WLU is a special place, filled with remarkable faculty, staff, students, and alumni. #3: St. Cloud State announces plans to cut approximately 100 academic programs and 57 faculty positions in reaction to a major budget deficit of approximately $15M. In a letter to the campus community, Acting President Larry Lee cited the need to slash as much as $9M from the budget by the year 2026 with more reductions slated for the future. Lee: "The higher education landscape is facing unprecedented struggles – student enrollment declines, affordability concerns, a proliferation of higher education alternatives, public perception of college degrees, and financial strains…among others. These decisions are painful; yet they are necessary for SCSU to continue to fulfill its mission." These cuts come on the heels of those made last year that “reduced the university’s deficit from approximately $24 million to about $18 million at the time.” (link)

#1: Young Harris selects UNC Asheville (DI) Assoc. AD for External Relations Aaron Bessey as the Mountain Lions’ next AD, starting July 1. President Drew Van Horn: "Young Harris is excited to welcome Aaron as our new Athletic Director. He comes with the recommendation from many who I respect in Division II athletics. Aaron brings with him the energy, encouragement, and vision that will build nicely on the foundation left by Jennifer Rushton."
