#10: The list of 754 participants has been announced for the 2024 NCAA DII Men’s & Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships to be held over May 23-25 at Welch Stadium in Emporia, Kan. (link)

#8: The California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) enters into a multi-year, seven-figure media rights deal with FloSports starting this fall. FloSports will represent the league and its 13 sports by delivering more than 1,200 men’s & women’s regular season and postseason events from 12 member institutions combining to make up the largest student enrollment in all of NCAA Division II. CCAA Commissioner Allen Hardison: “This innovative partnership will provide an incredible spotlight for our student-athletes, more revenue for our member institutions, increased distribution, and significantly enhanced productions. The media landscape is rapidly changing in college athletics and partnering with FloSports on this historic deal speaks to the vision of our conference and member institutions.” All of the revenue generated from the partnership will be reinvested into the CCAA member institutions. #7: Saint Michael’s AD Chris Kenny announces that he will step down at the end of June after nine years at the helm to transition into a role as the College’s Executive Director of Stewardship & Leadership Giving. Current Assoc. AD Matt Akins will succeed Kenny as the new AD, effective July 1. Kenny: "My long career with Purple Knight Athletics has been immensely rewarding, and working with our student-athletes, coaches, staff and campus colleagues has substantially enriched my life. I am so grateful for having had the opportunity to serve our College as Director of Athletics - it's been the honor of a lifetime, and I'm very proud of the many improvements, advancements, and accomplishments we have achieved in my nine years in this role." Akins: “I am grateful to President [Richard] Plumb for believing in me and entrusting me with this opportunity. Saint Michael's is a special place with extraordinary faculty, staff, students and alumni. … I'm excited to embrace this new challenge as we all continue to work together to support the College and enhance the student-athlete experience at Saint Michael's.” (link)

#5: The final NCAA DII Baseball Regional Rankings are also out with West Chester, Central Missouri, Southern New Hampshire, Saginaw Valley, Tampa, Lubbock Christian, Catawba and Point Loma holding down the top spots. (link)

#4: The field has been announced for the 2024 NCAA DII Baseball Championship with West Chester, Central Missouri, Southern New Hampshire, Saginaw Valley, Tampa, Catawba, Lubbock Christian and Point Loma tapped as the regional top seeds. (link)

#3: Eastern New Mexico selects Oklahoma State (DI) Senior Assoc. AD for Compliance Kevin Fite as the Greyhounds’ new AD. starting July 1. President James Johnston: "After a national search that yielded a very strong finalist pool, Mr. Kevin Fite rose to the top. Mr. Fite comes to ENMU with a breadth of expertise, experience, and leadership skills that will greatly add to my leadership team. I am excited for him to join the Greyhound family." Fite: “When this position became available I was initially intrigued by the opportunity. After learning more about the University and the characteristics President Johnston and the search committee were looking for in the next director of athletics, my interests grew. Upon visiting the campus, meeting coaches and staff, and developing a clear understanding of the vision President Johnston has for the athletics program and the entire University, I knew I wanted to be part of what is happening at ENMU and what will happen in the future.” (link)

#2: University Magazine releases a Niche Ranking list that “highlights the best colleges for athletics in 2024, considering factors such as sports facilities, coaching quality, team performance and overall student support.” Among the top 25, seven DII schools were featured: No. 3 Northwest Missouri State, No. 4 Grand Valley State, No. 7 Central Missouri, No. 10 Augustana (SD), No. 18 Florida Southern, No. 19 Ferris State and No. 20 Pittsburg State. Overall, Baylor was selected as the nation’s premier college for athletics in 2024. Full list. (link)

#1: Embry-Riddle names Franklin Pierce AD Rachel Burleson as the incoming AD for the Eagles. Embry-Riddle Senior VP of Academic Affairs and Provost Kelly Austin: "Rachel is an advocate for students both on and off the field, and we're thrilled to welcome her to campus. Embry-Riddle athletes are students first and, as evidenced by Rachel's own approach to academics — continually pursuing new degrees throughout her career — she is a lifelong learner who will lead by example." Burleson was selected as the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) Division II AD of the Year back in March 2024.
