#9: Conference Carolinas will add Ferrum (DIII) as the league's 16th full member in 2025-26, coinciding with the addition of Football. Commissioner Chris Colvin said. "The ability to be able to align with an institution like Ferrum College that perfectly fits with our conference beliefs and values, while also being a first-class institution with a unique commitment to a strong athletics program, is truly special. Our overall goal in Conference Carolinas is always to continue to make our conference stronger, and Ferrum's addition to our league allows us to accomplish this while also furthering our commitment to football and our three-division model in certain sports. #8: Cal State San Marcos student-athlete Jillian Albayati became the first DII student-athlete to ever play in a Softball and Baseball game on the same day, as she also became the Cougars’ first woman to play for the Baseball team. (link)

#7: UNC Pembroke rolls out its new five-year athletics strategic plan. The five major goals: “developing successful adults- academically, athletically, & socially; uphold commitment, uphold commitment to inclusivity, compliance, & gender; recruit, develop and retain students, coaches & staff that enhance our programs; proactively tell our story, enhance marketing & community engagement; and grow revenues and resources while enhancing efficiency.” AD Dick Christy: I'm proud of how our staff and community came alongside each other this summer to brainstorm and dream about where we can go in the future. #4: Emory & Henry VP for Athletics Anne Crutchfield will transition to a new role and “assume responsibilities for athletics strategic projects,” with Asst. AD for Student-Athlete Success/GEDI and Wasps Men's Basketball alum Kyle Sensabaugh to step into the chair, effective July 1. Sensabaugh will also take over as Interim Men's Basketball HC for the 2024-25 academic year, as HC Ben Thompson will move to the Advancement office as a Major Gift Officer working on the Collective Connection Campaign. President John Wells: “Anne is a tireless advocate for her alma mater. She has worked diligently for the past three years orchestrating and leading our Division II transition and building additional teams for wrestling, lacrosse, track & field and rugby. […] Kyle is an established campus leader and coach. He is a respected and engaged director who supports our students with great effectiveness.
