#8: The Athletic takes a look at college dodgeball, which has seen Grand Valley State win 11 of 17 National Collegiate Dodgeball Association championships, and what future growth of the sport could look like. The campus club’s recruiting efforts included campus activity fairs, as well as communicating with GVSU Baseball regarding strong-armed players who did not make the team. NCDA Director of Content and GVSU alum Bailey: “We think about dodgeball as the best sport so many people have never heard of or don’t realize that it’s more than just that thing from the movie or from gym class. It’s an actual competitive sport. [...] I’m pumped because I know that in a decade it’s going to be spanning across the country in every school. It’s going to be one of those things that is going toward becoming mainstream. And we’re just at the tip of the iceberg right now.” (link)

We’ll focus on personnel and inclusive excellence, so that we’re hiring and retaining the right coaches and making sure we have a culture of inclusion so everyone feels welcome. … Facilities, I need to really assess where we’re at. I’ve been through most all of them but I need to see where the competitors are, where are those top programs in Division II and where do we need to strengthen. #2: Clayton State President Lewis announces the appointment of Green Bay (DI) Deputy AD Rolle as the Lakers new Director of Athletics. Lewis: "I am excited for Jermaine to join our leadership team and contribute his experience to build upon the outstanding foundation we have here at Clayton State. We are focused on transforming student's lives and he understands the importance of our mission and sense of urgency about facilitating the success for our student-athletes."
