KENOSHA, Wis. --- Parkside's Assistant Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Success Ashley Beaton Simpson has announced her resignation. She will be taking a similar position at the University of Southern Illinois - Edwardsville.

"Hiring Ashley Beaton Simpson as our inaugural Athletics Academic Advisor three years ago was transformational to Parkside Athletics," said Senior Associate Athletic Director Hayley Treadway. "Her growth to Assistant Athletic Director for Student Success empowered her to lead the creation of intentional student-athlete development programming that continued to elevate the Ranger student-athlete experience. But her personal mentorship and advocacy for individual student-athletes and RSAAC will perhaps be the area where her absence is most felt. Thank you, Ashley, for your remarkable service to Parkside Athletics and our Ranger student-athletes. we wish you all the best in your new endeavors as you return home to the St. Louis area."

Beaton Simpson began her time at Parkside in June of 2020 as the Athletics Academic Advisor thanks to Parkside receiving the NCAA Strategic Alliance Matching Grant. The NCAA grant requires the continuation of funding for the position through 2025. The rising star then was promoted to Assistant Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Success in August of 2021. In her time at Parkside, she has overseen the development and implementation of a number of programs and initiatives designed to support student-athletes' academic, personal, and professional success. She has also been a key member of Parkside Athletics' leadership team. Beaton Simpson also served as the Athletics Diversity and Inclusion Designee and was the staff advisor of the Rangers' Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (RSAAC).

"I am and will always be so grateful that I had the opportunity to work for Ranger Athletics," remarked Beaton Simpson. "My hope is that the coaches, staff, and student-athletes got a fraction of what I gained from all of them in my time at Parkside. I want to specifically thank Hayley Treadway for her mentorship, for all that she has taught me, and for allowing me to mold my position to support the student-athletes how I knew best. There are some amazing and talented people at Parkside, and I'm thankful I had the chance to learn and grow with them, and this community. Thank you Parkside and Ranger Athletics, for a wonderful three years!"

While at Parkside, Beaton Simpson was responsible for overseeing the continued academic growth of the student-athletes. During her tenure, the department's GPA improved from 3.297 in the fall of 2020 to 3.47 this past spring. In her role as staff advisor to RSAAC, Beaton Simpson helped numerous student-athletes apply for different learning opportunities and experiences with the NCAA.
