Three weeks after the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl had its most successful game in a decade, the Gator Bowl Sports Board of Trustees and TaxSlayer announced an extension of their title sponsorship agreement for five more years, through the 2027 game.

TaxSlayer, an online tax filing platform based in Augusta, Ga., is the longest-running title sponsor of the nation's sixth-oldest bowl game. TaxSlayer became the Gator Bowl sponsor in 2012 and the agreement is the eighth-longest between a title sponsor and a bowl game.

“We express our gratitude to the TaxSlayer family for extending their sponsorship of our historical post-season bowl game,” said Greg McGarity, Gator Bowl Sports president & CEO, in a statement.  “As we enter our second decade of this sponsorship, we are blessed to work alongside such an incredible partner as TaxSlayer.”

The Gator Bowl just completed its third year of a conference affiliation agreement with the SEC and ACC and has been aired on ESPN since 2011.

The 78th Gator Bowl between Notre Dame and South Carolina was fifth among all 2022 bowl games in attendance with 67,383 watching the Irish beat the Gamecocks 45-38, the highest-scoring Gator Bowl in history. More than 5.7 million viewers watched the game, the highest non-New Year's Day Six game since 2015 and a 66 percent increase over the 2021 game.

“The TaxSlayer Gator Bowl is an exciting opportunity for us to engage with college football fans across the country,” said TaxSlayer CEO Jamie Saxe in his statement. “We’re honored to connect our name with this prestigious event and to reach such a significant milestone in Gator Bowl Sports history.”

The 79th TaxSlayer Gator Bowl date and time will be announced in May 2023. For further information visit www.taxslayergatorbowl.com.
