Peach Belt Response to Young Harris Announcement

AUGUSTA, GA -- Young Harris College has announced its intentions to leave the Peach Belt Conference at the end of the 2022-23 academic year.

"We have received notification from Young Harris College that they will be leaving the Peach Belt effective June 30, 2023," said PBC commissioner David Brunk. "We appreciate their many contributions to our conference and are committed to providing their student-athletes with an exemplary championship experience this year."

Young Harris joined the Peach Belt to begin the 2012-13 season after completing a transition from the NAIA to NCAA Division II.

"We wish them well as we move forward and will follow our existing conference policies and protocols to ensure a smooth departure," said commissioner Brunk. "Our ten outstanding members remain committed to one another and to the student-athletes we serve. We are a strong conference that will continue to grow and thrive in the years ahead."

The Peach Belt is in the midst of one of its most successful fall campaigns in recent memory. The conference is home to Columbus State and Flagler, the two remaining teams in the NCAA women's soccer regional, and will field half of all teams competing at this week's NCAA volleyball regional.
