Spring hill college is continuing to celebrate tonight as it makes plans to build a state of the art nursing facility.

Funding was finalized late last week for a program which has been rated number one in the state for the past three years..

"There’ll be 35 million dollars in there for Spring Hill College for a science and nursing facility." -17 words that put the adrenaline into Spring Hill’s nursing program.

Plans are now in the works to build a new state of the art building dedicated *to* that nursing program .

Dr. Rachaeal Banks is the vice president for advancement at Spring Hill. She wrote the proposal for the new facility.

The 35 million dollars was included in the 1.7 trillion spending bill approved by congress last week.

Senator Richard Shelby, who serves as vice chairman of the powerful Senate Appropriations Committee, used his influence to include the 35 million dollars in the bill.

Spring Hill’s nursing program currently resides in Quinlan Hall; It’s small, and allows for only 60 students in the 6,300-square foot space.

This new facility will be much larger and will have all the bells and whistles to prepare students for a career in nursing.

There is no time table for when construction will begin or when the facility will open.

Dr. Banks said the school did not want to put the cart before the horse before knowing if this funding would actually come though.
