EKU Football Sees Ticket Sales, Attendance Spike In 2022

RICHMOND, Ky. – EKU football saw attendance numbers and ticket sales increase significantly during the 2022 season. The Colonels drew 75,653 fans during the regular season, an increase of 9.3 percent over last year's mark of 69,231. EKU also averaged 12,609 fans per game in the regular season, topping the 2021 average of 11,539. Since 2019, the Colonels have seen average attendance and total attendance numbers grow by 81.8 percent. EKU topped the 15,000-fan mark in two different games during the 2022 season, drawing 16,906 for the home opener against Charleston Southern and packing 15,244 into Roy Kidd Stadium for the Homecoming game against North Alabama.  Individual ticket sales increased by 36.8 percent during 2022, while season ticket sales were up 14.4 percent from 2021. On the year, EKU ranked 11th in FCS football in total attendance and 16th in average attendance for the regular and postseason. The Colonels also drew the second-highest attendance in the first round of the FCS playoffs.  EKU's student attendance also rose from 12,693 during the 2021 regular season to 14,027 this year, a 10.5 percent increase.  On the gridiron, EKU won a share of the ASUN regular-season championship and advanced to the NCAA FCS Playoffs for the first time in eight seasons. The EKU football season ticket renewal process will begin in early February for current season ticket holders to seize on momentum, maintain contact with loyal fans, and maximize time for new sales.
