Tulsa's Jim Rhein, who has served as interim head coach of the women's soccer program the past two seasons, has been promoted to head coach, as announced today by athletic director Rick Dickson.

"It was evident that our women's soccer program took a significant step during Jim's tenure as interim coach," Dickson said.  "He and his coaching staff have changed the culture and trajectory of the program and we look forward to greater success under his leadership."

"I am excited to have the opportunity to continue to lead this program," Rhein said.  "We improved a great deal this season and we have a great group of returners and signees for next season.  I look forward to what we can accomplish and for what this team's future holds."

Rhein led the program to a 7-7-2 overall record this past season, helping TU post its first non-losing record since 2015.  TU's Jordan Frederick earned the programs first national weekly honor, being named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week, while Frederick, Tatum Sanders and Maggie SymSmith were all tabbed to the American Athletic Conference all-rookie team.

In 2021, Rhein led the program to six wins and Madison Williams was named to The American all-Rookie team.

Rhein just completed his 15th season overall with the program.  He was named as an assistant coach in 2008, was promoted to associate head coach in 2013 and took over as interim head coach in 2021.

During his tenure, the Golden Hurricane has compiled a 121-127-32 mark.  Twenty student-athletes have earned all-conference honors, three were tabbed to the conference all-tournament team, Rachel Thun was selected as The American Rookie of the Year (2014) and Midfielder of the Year (2016), Jordan O'Brien was tabbed as the Conference USA Freshman of the Year (2010), 19 players received all-Rookie/Freshman accolades and five picked up NSCAA All-Region honors.
