Familiar Name Takes Over as S&C Coach

Kearney, Neb. – Nebraska Kearney Athletics announced today that Shane Stock will be the Lopers new Head Strength and Conditioning Coach.

The Omaha native begins his new duties on January 3rd and replaces Steve "Sarge" Schulz who is retiring after a distinguished and decorated coaching career.

Stock has spent the five and a half years as an assistant working under Schulz. He joined the strength and condition staff in in October 2016 where he oversaw all aspects of training and nutrition for the baseball program. 0

In his assistant role, he oversaw the development of the men's and women's track and field teams, softball, women's soccer, and women's golf while assisting with football. During his time at UNK, he has worked and helped develop many talented student-athletes including All-Americans across various sport programs. Stock will determine new team assignments once his staff is completed. 

"I'm thrilled that Shane has been promoted to our Head Strength and Conditioning coach position. He places a high value on our student-athletes and will continue to use high-tech training strategies to elevate their overall performance," said UNK Associate Athletic Director Bill Murphy.

A former UNK baseball player, he is certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) with the distinction of registered strength and conditioning coach (RSCC).

The Omaha native graduated in 2017 with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science with a minor in Nutrition. He then earned a Master's in Physical Education with an emphasis in Sports Administration in July 2020.
