Ryan Kelly Promoted to Deputy Athletic Director

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. — Ryan Kelly has been promoted to deputy athletic director with LIU Athletics.

Kelly originally joined the department a year ago as assistant athletic director for sport administration.

He has been involved with sport supervision and department-wide recruitment efforts by collaborating with coaches.

"I want to thank Ryan for his leadership, helping our department with the recruitment of exceptional student-athletes, sport supervision and helping us improve our general operations," director of athletics Dr. William E. Martinov Jr. said. "His new role will assist with our overall organizational structure moving forward, specifically by providing the leadership of the Post campus' daily operations. while maintaining our steadfast efforts to recruit top-level student-athletes."

Kelly arrived from the American Athletic Conference, where he spent three years on the staff as the director of football operations.

Prior to his time at the American, he served as the associate director of football operations at Baylor from 2016 through '18.

Kelly coordinated all aspects of the football program, including facilities and operations, and was the team's liaison with Baylor's grounds crew, equipment, media relations, academic and athletic training staff. He also assisted in the planning and coordination of all team travel, and was the liaison with NFL clubs.

Before joining the staff at Baylor, Kelly spent two seasons as the assistant director of football operations at Temple, where he was involved in all day-to-day facets of the program. Temple won the 2016 American Athletic Conference Championship and won a pair of American East Division titles during Kelly's tenure in Philadelphia.

Kelly also spent time as a recruiting assistant at Coastal Carolina, and as the coordinator of athletic recruiting at Anna Maria College in Massachusetts, where he also served as the football program's special teams coordinator.

Kelly graduated from Norwich University in 2011. He was a four-year letterwinner in football and baseball, and a member of the Cadets' 2009 Eastern Collegiate Football Conference championship team.
