Meredith Crawford Hired as Senior Associate AD, Athletics Development

TOWSON, Md. – Meredith Crawford has been hired by the Towson University athletics department as Senior Associate Athletic Director, Athletics Development. Crawford, who has spent the last eight years in the James Madison University (JMU) athletics department, will begin her new position on Dec. 14.

In her role, Crawford will lead the Tiger Athletic Fund (TAF), the fundraising arm of the Towson athletics department. TAF relies on its members and their generous support to help improve the quality and experience of the more than 500 student-athletes.

"We are confident we've got a rock star with Meredith," Towson Director of Athletics Steve Eigenbrot said. "Her local ties, experience in the CAA and prospective as a former student-athlete with a series of diverse roles in college athletics made her stand out amongst the candidates. Towson will benefit greatly from her ability to pull on those experiences to enhance our fundraising operation and lead our institution into the future."

Crawford arrived at JMU in August 2014 as Assistant Director of Development where she solicited alumni in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area for the athletic scholarship fund. She also directed the Letterwinner chapter of the Duke Club. In July 2017, she was promoted to Assistant Athletic Director for Student-Athlete leadership development. Her office managed the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), community service, career planning and Dukes LEAD (Life Experiences and Development) programming.

"My family and I are excited to become a part of the Towson athletics community, specifically helping the Tiger Athletic Fund reach new heights," Crawford said. "I'm eager to meet campus and external constituents to truly understand the rich history of Towson athletics and the bright future the Tigers have under the leadership of Steve Eigenbrot. I'm thankful to the search committee, including Todd Langenberg, for seeing my value and what I can bring to help enhance the student-athlete experience at Towson by bringing donors to the table who have a passion for paying it forward."

Prior to arriving in Harrisonburg, Crawford spent six months as the manager of athletics development at Bucknell University.

After graduating from Georgetown in 2010, Crawford spent four years at Shenandoah University. She served as an assistant women's basketball coach for the Hornets. After the 2010-11 season, she worked in the alumni affairs office as the associate director of alumni affairs.

Formerly Meredith Cox, Crawford played four seasons on the Hoyas' women's basketball squad. A two-year starter, she earned Big East All-Academic honors in each of her four seasons and was awarded the Coach's Award as a sophomore - given to the player who is most dedicated to the team and most willing to put forth the extra effort. She was also SAAC president her senior year and was selected to the Georgetown student-athlete veteran leader program.

Crawford received her undergraduate degree in English and earned a Master's in sports management from Georgetown in 2011.

She is married to former Georgetown men's basketball player Tyler Crawford. The couple have two children.

"I also would like to express my heartfelt appreciation to those that I have worked with at James Madison University, specifically Jennifer Phillips and Jeff Bourne, who embraced me eight years ago and motivated me to help the JMU student-athlete experience within the Duke Club and the Student-Athlete Leadership Program," Crawford added. "JMU athletics pushed me to be the best professional, wife and new mom I could be, and I am forever grateful."
