Tayler Vena Harrell Named UTEP’s Senior Associate Athletic Director for Compliance

EL PASO, Texas – Tayler Vena Harrell will be joining UTEP Athletics as Senior Associate Athletic Director for Compliance, Vice President and Director of Athletics Jim Senter announced on Friday. 
 
In her new role, Harrell will be a member of UTEP Athletics' Executive Team.  Her first day as a Miner will be Monday, January 9. 
 
"We are excited to welcome Tayler to UTEP Athletics and our Executive Team," Senter said.  "She will be a tremendous addition to our staff with the experience she has gained not only in college athletics, but on the legal side.  We look forward to her joining our team, and her family becoming a part of our wonderful community." 
 
"I am so excited to join the UTEP family and I would like to thank the administration for this opportunity," Harrell said.  "It is a very exciting time in college athletics and I look forward to helping our coaches and student-athletes compete at the highest level." 
 
Harrell has served on the Athletics staff at Creighton University since July of 2019.  She started as Assistant Director of Compliance, before being elevated to Director of Compliance and Title IX Deputy Coordinator in August of 2021.  Her responsibilities with the Bluejays also included Women's Rowing Sport Administrator and Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Advisor. 
 
As Director of Compliance at Creighton, Harrell monitored federal Title IX requirements within the athletic department.  She revamped and implemented a comprehensive rules education program.  She created and implemented the NCAA Board of Governors Policy on campus sexual violence.  She also oversaw the departmental NCAA probation and ensured that requirements were being met in a timely manner.  

Prior to her time in Omaha, Harrell was the Compliance and Student Services Intern at Villanova University.  She was also a Compliance Intern at the University of Kansas while attending law school.

An Overland Park, Kan. native, Harrell earned her undergraduate degree from Pittsburg State University in 2015.  She completed her Juris Doctor from Kansas in May of 2018.
 
Harrell and her husband, Kameron, were married in October of 2022.
