Mark Izquierdo Joins Athletics Staff

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – Interim Athletic Director Derrick Brown has announced the addition of Mark Izquierdo to the SIUE Athletics staff as Associate AD for Compliance and Administration.

Izquierdo joins the Cougars' staff from Western Illinois, where he was the Assistant AD for Compliance since August of 2020. At WIU, he was directly responsible for oversight, development and implementation of compliance policies and procedures in conjunction with the NCAA, the Summit League and the Missouri Valley Football Conference. He maintained the rules education program for all 17 Division I programs and served as the athletics liaison to Admissions, Financial Aid and Bookstore. Izquierdo served as the Sport Administrator for the men's and women's soccer and volleyball programs. He also served as a member of the University's Title IX Hearing and Investigation Panel as well as the Summit League's Sexual Violence Policy Committee.

Prior to his time in Macomb, Illinois, Izquierdo was the Director of Compliance and Student-Athlete Academic Services at Evansville from 2018-2020. In addition to rules interpretations and education, he advised and monitored academic progress and eligibility for more than 300 student-athletes.

He spent the 2017-18 school year as the Compliance and Administration Assistant with the Summit League. There he assisted the Assistant Commissioner for Compliance and Governance with the operation of the league's compliance program, including NCAA and league rules, policies and procedures.

Izquierdo also served as an Athletics Compliance Intern at Northwestern as well as a postgraduate intern in the Athletics ticket office at DePaul. He also worked in the DePaul Athletics office as an undergraduate. He earned his bachelor's degree in business management from DePaul in 2016.

The native of Lemont, Illinois earned his master's in sports administration from Northwestern in 2019.
