Stacy Snider named head coach for men's golf program

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.  - The Davenport University athletic department is pleased to announce the appointment of Stacy Snider as head men's golf coach.
 
"We are extremely excited to announce the hiring of Stacy Snider as our head men's golf coach," said Paul Lowden, executive director of intercollegiate athletics. "Stacy's extensive knowledge and coaching experience will be a great asset to our men's golf program and athletic department. We look forward to continued success in the GLIAC as well as in the NCAA Championships."

Snider has previous collegiate experience as an assistant women's golf coach at The Ohio State University from 2016-21. During her time with the Buckeyes, Snider helped guide the program to the 2019 Big Ten Championship. OSU also reached the 2017 NCAA Quarterfinals. The Buckeyes qualified three times for NCAA regionals (2017-19) and twice for the NCAA Championships in 2017 and 2018. There were also two Big Ten individual champions during her time including Jaclyn Lee (2018) and Niki Schroeder (2019). She mentored 16 WGCA Academic All-Americans, 18 Academic All-Big Ten selections, and 14 Big Ten Distinguished Scholars.

Snider also has served as head women's golf coach at Western Michigan University (2014-16). The Broncos were able to claim the lowest team stroke average in program history at the time in 2015-16. They also won the Ball State Cardinal Classic and Bulldog Florida Invitational. The program had academic success as well with six WGCA All-American Scholars, five Academic All-MAC selections, and a NCAA APR Public Recognition Award.

Snider also spent a stint from 2012-14 as the head women's golf coach at the University of Louisiana Monroe. They had five tournament wins and the Sun Belt Player of the Year in 2014 (Allison Knowles). The team had the highest GPA in the Sun Belt Conference in 2012-13 and produced four Academic All-Americans.

Snider has experience outside the collegiate realm and has also served as an assistant golf professional at Sunnybrook Country Club in Grandville, Michigan and presently works at First Tee in Human Resources and Talent Acquisition. She also was the teaching professional at the Golf Club at Thornapple Pointe in Grand Rapids, Michigan from 2006-12.

Snider graduated from Michigan State University with a bachelor's degree in Family Community Ecology with a Youth Emphasis and was a four-year letterwinner with the Spartans. After graduation, she was a member of the LPGA Tour from 2003-06 and captured the Michigan Women's Open in 2004 and was the only woman to win the Michigan PGA Tournament of Champions in 2003.
