OU Athletics Impacts Lifelong Athlete Outcomes Through Engagement Platform

February 23, 2023 | Athletics

NORMAN — The University of Oklahoma Athletics Department and the Varsity O Association have partnered with Athlete Network to launch a new digital platform that will serve as a "one-stop shop" for OU letterwinners, enabling them to stay connected with teammates, classmates and friends, and providing them with exclusive team-related content. The Varsity O Network has been specifically created to support OU letterwinners and provide access to diverse resources, events and networking opportunities while staying engaged in all facets of OU Athletics.

The Varsity O Network is a branded digital platform that will be used to engage and communicate with fellow letterwinners while providing a centralized hub for all department resources, including building relationships with current coaches and staff, staying informed about upcoming events and reunions, and keeping up with current student-athlete and letterwinner spotlights. Along with expanding communication and engagement opportunities for OU student-athletes, the software will also immediately provide cutting edge data insights and reporting to athletics administrators, expand career resources and cultivate relationships among all generations of Sooners.

"We believe it is our mission to serve our student-athletes not only while they are competing, but also keep them connected to the University for life following their campus experience," said OU Vice President and Athletics Director Joe Castiglione. "No matter the sport, the ultimate goal of each student-athlete is to earn a degree from the University of Oklahoma and become a member of one of the strongest alumni support groups, the OU family. Athlete Network provides a platform for our Sooner family to stay connected with teammates and engage with other student-athletes from across all sports and eras. Our commitment doesn't end at graduation; we are committed to developing Sooners for Life."

OU is the fifth member of the Big 12 Conference to partner with Athlete Network, and in its upcoming move to the SEC in 2024 will join Auburn, LSU, Mississippi State, Missouri, Ole Miss and Vanderbilt as schools that power their own customized athlete network through Athlete Network's software.

Former OU student-athletes who want to get involved can register for free today and connect with fellow alumni on this exciting new platform. For more information on the Varsity O Association or the Varsity O Network, visit www.thevarsityo.com or contact Alex Anderson at alexanderson@ou.edu.
