Jim Harbaugh met with reporters on Thursday afternoon and covered a myriad of topics.

Amongst those topics was his relationship with Michigan athletic director Warde Manuel. Harbaugh and Manuel have had an eventful couple of seasons atop Michigan’s athletic department, especially as Harbaugh has continued to entertain interest from NFL franchises.

However, Harbaugh insists that his relationship with Manuel is “great.” He suggested that anything to the contrary was a media narrative.

Harbaugh is back in Ann Arbor for another season despite holding discussions with NFL teams for a 2nd consecutive offseason. Back in January, Manuel released a statement on Harbaugh’s decision to stay at Michigan:

“We are also excited at the recent news involving coach Harbaugh’s commitment to continue leading our program and announcements from many student-athletes of their intentions to return to school instead of seeking professional opportunities,” Manuel said in a recent update statement. “Options abound for people throughout this program; I am heartened that they choose to further their education and careers here at U-M and I look forward to announcing further specifics.”

Aside from Harbaugh’s near-annual NFL drama, things are going well at Michigan. The Wolverines have earned back-to-back wins over rival Ohio State for the 1st time since 1999-2000.

Michigan is also coming off of back-to-back appearances in the College Football Playoff. Looking ahead to 2023, the Wolverines are expected to be amongst the favorites to make it back to that stage once again.
