PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Ahen Kim has stepped down as the Brown University women's volleyball head coach after five years. Kim will coach a professional team in South Korea.

"We are grateful for everything Coach Kim has brought to the Brown volleyball program over the last five years," said M. Grace Calhoun '92, Ph.D., Chancellor Samuel M. Mencoff '78 Vice President for Athletics and Recreation. "He has helped grow Brown volleyball into a strong conference contender as witnessed by one the most successful runs in program history. We wish Ahen and his family the best. We will soon begin our search for a new head coach."

"I am incredibly thankful to Brown University and the administration for the opportunity to lead the volleyball program the last five seasons," said Kim. "I am truly grateful for my time on College Hill and to every student-athlete I've had the privilege to coach."

Named the head coach in January 2018, Kim led the historic run in 2021 that featured a 20-win season for the first time since 1998 and the first Ivy League Championship since 2001. The program went 20-6 overall and 13-1 in Ivy play, the most wins in conference action ever. Kim was named Ivy League Coach of the Year that season. The 2022 program advanced to the inaugural Ivy League Volleyball Tournament and went 10-4 in league play.

In his five years (the 2020 season was canceled), Kim went 59-39 overall and 32-22 in Ivy action. Cierra Jenkins was named 2021 AVCA All-America Honorable Mention and Jenkins (2021) and Beau Vanderlaan (2022) appeared on the AVCA East All-Region teams. During his time on College Hill, Brown has collected 13 All-Ivy selections, four Academic All-Ivy, two Ivy League Rookie of the Year awards, one Ivy League Player of the Year, and one Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year.
