Mike Hollins, a survivor of the University of Virginia shooting that killed three football players, has been discharged from UVa University Hospital, his mother Brenda shared on Twitter on Monday.

- Hollins was shot in the back on the evening of Nov. 13 after returning to campus from a class trip to Washington, D.C.
- The bullet damaged Hollins’ kidneys and small intestine. His injuries required two surgeries in the aftermath of the shooting, according to his mother.
- Hollins’ father, Mike Hollins Sr. shared that his son intends to return to the football team after his recovery, which is expected to take two to three months.
Backstory
On Nov. 13, Christopher Darnell Jones Jr., a student and former walk-on Virginia football player allegedly shot and killed football players Devin Chandler, Lavel Davis Jr. and D’Sean Perry. Hollins and student Marlee Morgan were also injured in an incident that took place on a charter bus returning to campus from a class trip.
Jones has been charged with three counts of second-degree murder and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. He’s also charged with two counts of malicious wounding.
