Big South CEO Fall Meeting Recap
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – A wide-ranging discussion about the changing landscape in college athletics highlighted the Big South Conference Council of Chief Executive Officers’ fall meeting Nov. 10 in Charlotte. The Council met with NCAA Transformation Committee member
Dr. Javaune Adams-Gaston (President of Norfolk State University), who provided an informative presentation on the status of the Committee’s work. The Council also had productive discussions on the Big South’s strategic vision and direction, including the development of a holistic model for student-athletes’ health and well-being.
The Council took a significant step in its ongoing efforts to ensure equity by approving a plan to equalize fees for men’s and women’s basketball officials. In addition, the Council elevated Charleston Southern University President
Dr. Dondi Costin to the role of Big South President, as he will complete the term of UNC Asheville Chancellor
Dr. Nancy Cable, who is departing the school in December. Costin was serving as the conference’s Vice President.
