PHILADELPHIA – Temple University Professor and Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs Dr. Jeremy Jordan has been appointed to the NCAA Division I Committee on Infractions. Jordan, who has also been Temple's Faculty Athletics Representative since 2015, will serve on the committee immediately with his term continuing through August 31, 2025.

"I am honored to have been selected to join the COI and look forward to representing Temple University in this role as I serve the membership of the NCAA," said Jordan.  "This is a time of important change in college athletics as we identify ways to better support our student-athletes and pursue opportunities to enhance their experience."

"I am thrilled that Jeremy has been named to this prestigious NCAA Committee," said Temple University Vice President and Director of Athletics Arthur Johnson. "Jeremy has done tremendous work here with our student-athletes as well as the University as a whole.  His background is the perfect fit for serious matters that this committee undertakes."

Jordan, who has been at Temple University since 2008, has contributed to the growth of the school in a variety of areas. His research focuses on the individual and community benefits of spectator and participant events. Specifically, his research examines consumer expectations and satisfaction, motives for participation, commitment to the event and/or activity, and economic activity, all within the theoretical framework of involvement. Events have the capacity to stimulate new money into the host economy, create and reinforce business opportunities, and facilitate social cohesion.

He co-founded Temple's Sport Industry Research Center (SIRC). Created in 2008, SIRC is a collaborative research network providing innovative marketing and management strategies to enhance the economic, social, and environmental sustainability of sporting events. As part of SIRC, Jordan has lead research projects with numerous industry partners such as: the National Football League; Life Time Athletic Events, Philadelphia Marathon & Half Marathon; National Dog Show; Blue Cross Broad Street Run; Temple Athletics; Tough Mudder; Students Run Philly Style; Black Girls Run!; Concilio; Philadelphia Hispanic Fiesta; and Welcome America.

In his role as Temple's NCAA Faculty Athletics Representative, he acts as liaison between academics and athletics, and with the university's Board of Trustees, the President's Office, and the Provost's Office, to ensure academic integrity of Temple's intercollegiate athletics programs.

About the NCAA Division I Committee on Infractions
The Division I Committee on Infractions (COI) is an independent administrative body charged with deciding infractions cases involving NCAA member institutions and their employees.  Each committee is comprised of individuals serving as volunteers from NCAA member institutions and conferences and individuals from the general public who have legal training.
