Green resigns as UAA volleyball coach

ANCHORAGE, ALASKA – University of Alaska Anchorage head volleyball coach Chris Green announced his resignation Monday. Associate head coach Stacie Meisner has been named interim coach.

"I would like to thank our fans and boosters for their support," said Green. "Thanks to all the players who dedicated themselves to this program year after year. And I would like to acknowledge my assistant coaches who were integral in building this program."

"On behalf of the entire athletics department, I thank Chris for his many years of service to UAA, and all of his efforts in support of our student-athletes," said athletic director Ryan Swartwood. "We wish him the best in his future endeavors."

Green posted a 313-116 (.731) record over 15 seasons, that included 11 NCAA Tournament appearances in the last 13 full seasons. The Seawolves made only two NCAA tournament appearances in the 28 seasons prior to Green's arrival.

He was named the GNAC Coach of the Year six times, including in 2022, and was named the AVCA Div. II National Coach of the Year in 2016 after leading the Seawolves to a national runner-up finish.

Green, a three-time West Region Coach of the Year honoree, coached nine All-Americans, six GNAC Players of the Year, six GNAC Newcomers of the Year and five GNAC Freshman of the Year.

UAA recorded its 15th straight winning season in 2022 finishing with a 27-3 mark and won its fourth GNAC title under Green with a 17-1 mark in conference play before losing to Chaminade in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
