PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Chancellor Samuel M. Mencoff '78 Vice President for Athletics and Recreation M. Grace Calhoun '92, Ph.D. has announced the hiring of Kirsten Green. Green will join Calhoun's executive leadership team as the Senior Associate Director of Athletics and Chief of Staff, at the end of March.

At Brown, Green will provide leadership over the executive operations of the Division of Athletics and Recreation, including the execution of the Division's strategic and operational plans. Green will also support Calhoun in maintaining strong relationships with coaches, staff, and diverse constituent groups, facilitating the completion of major projects, and liaising with campus leaders on university-wide priorities.

"I'm delighted that Kirsten has agreed to join our Brown Athletics leadership team after a long and successful tenure at Harvard," said Calhoun. "I have gotten to know Kirsten over the last several years through Ivy League governance and championships and have developed a deep respect for Kirsten as an athletics administrator and leader.  She has worked for some of the best in the industry, and I know Brown Athletics will get stronger with her addition."

"I'm thrilled to join Brown Athletics at such an exciting time, and I'm so grateful to Grace and her team for their confidence in me," Green said. "I was fortunate to experience 16 wonderful years in the Harvard community, and I can't wait to join in the inspiring work that is happening on Brown's campus."

Green joins the Brown staff from Harvard University, where she spent eight years as the director of men's basketball operations (2007-15) and eight years in athletics administration (2015-23).

At Harvard, Green was most recently a pivotal member of the external operations team, serving as the point person for special events, with a focus on fostering community and affinity, and overseeing the department's yearlong celebration of the 50th anniversary of Title IX. She also contributed athletics special features to the Harvard Gazette news website. Prior to being named assistant director of athletics for special projects in 2021, Green worked with the director of athletics, the athletics administration, and campus partners in a broad role - strengthening relationships, with responsibility in the areas of communication, organization, alumni relations, coach development, and sport program management.

Green also spent eight seasons as the director of men's basketball operations at Harvard (2007-15). She was responsible for overseeing all administrative aspects of the program, which won five Ivy League championships (2011-15) and reached the NCAA tournament four times (2012-15). Prior to moving to Cambridge, Green was the director of men's basketball operations at the University of Michigan and Seton Hall University for 10 seasons.

A December 1996 graduate of Duke University with a degree in mathematics, Green was a four-year student manager for the men's basketball program. She was a member of teams which reached the 1994 NCAA championship game and earned the 1997 Atlantic Coast Conference regular-season championship. She earned her Master of Liberal Arts in general management from Harvard in 2015.
