LE MOYNE ATHLETICS EXPERIENCES RECORD-SETTING GIVING DAY

3/3/2023 11:40:00 AM

Syracuse, N.Y. – Yesterday marked a record-setting day for philanthropy on "the Heights."

While Le Moyne College experienced its most successful Giving Day on record, raising over $1 million for the first time in school history and totaling the second-highest number of donors (2636), the Dolphin Athletic Association (DAA) put forth a remarkable effort as well.

In fact, the DAA shattered its previous records for both money raised ($210,218) and total number of donors (1332) during the Giving Day event.

The total dollar amount raised by the DAA outdistanced its previous record (established during Giving Day 2021) by 62 percent, while the DAA increased its previous record number of donors by 32 percent. The DAA realized an increase of nearly 100 percent year-over-year in budget-enhancing dollars and total donors from last year's Giving Day results.

"We are so grateful to everyone who supported Le Moyne Athletics on Giving Day," said Le Moyne Director of Athletics and Recreation Bob Beretta. "The amount of money we raised to support our student-athletes' pursuit of excellence is incredible, but even more heartwarming is the sheer number of individuals that donated to our cause.

"Each year on Giving Day, it is amazing to see how our 'Phin Phamily rallies together from all over the world with the common goal of enhancing the student-athlete experience. The level of generosity displayed by our alumni, student-athletes, family members and friends to our sport programs and Department is what makes Le Moyne a special place, a place where Greatness truly meets Goodness."

Illustrating the far reach of Le Moyne Athletics, the DAA received five gifts from Canada, eight from Germany, nine from the United Kingdom and one from Australia.

"I'd like to thank everyone, including our coaches, staff members and student-athletes, who helped make this year's Giving Day such a tremendous success. The results are a direct result of the time, effort and commitment put forth by all involved."

Money donated to specific athletic programs or the Athletic Department's General Fund will directly impact Le Moyne's 340 student-athletes and help fund "margin of excellence" initiatives to enhance the overall student-athlete experience.

While Giving Day has ended, those interested in contributing a donation to support Le Moyne Athletics can visit the department's official website at the following link:
