Siena Hall of Fame Member Brings Over 30 Years of Valuable Experience to Loudonville

LOUDONVILLE, NY – Siena Vice President & Director of Athletics John D'Argenio announced the hiring of Craig Turnbull '87 as the department's Associate Athletic Director for External Relations. A Siena graduate and a member of the Siena Athletics Hall of Fame, Turnbull brings over 30 years of athletic development and external relations experience to Loudonville.

"We are fortunate to have someone with Craig's experience as a sports management professional and his knowledge of Siena to join our staff," D'Argenio said. "Engaging with our students, fans, donors and future friends of Siena is critical to providing our student athletes and coaches with a positive environment in which they can learn and be successful."

No stranger to collegiate athletics or the Capital Region, Turnbull returns to his alma mater after working in both professional athletics and for intercollegiate athletic departments.

"Siena has been a part of my life for nearly 40 years," Turnbull said. "I thank John for providing me with this wonderful opportunity to lead a team and be a part of some exciting projects that will generate support for the Siena Athletics community."

Turnbull returns to the Green and Gold following three years as the Associate AD for Development at the University at Albany, where he developed and implemented strategies to secure funding for the Great Danes athletics department.

Turnbull spent 20 years in the professional sports industry, serving as the Senior Vice President of Marketing, Communications, & Sponsorship Sales for Olympia Entertainment and the Detroit Red Wings and as the Vice President of Brand Management for Palace Sports & Entertainment & the Detroit Pistons.

Prior to his stay in Detroit, Turnbull worked as the Assistant AD for Development at the University of Maine, as Siena's Director of Alumni Relations and Assistant Director of Development and as the Assistant to the Director for Athletic Development & Assistant Baseball Coach at the University of Connecticut.

A standout baseball player at Siena from 1984-87, Turnbull received his B.S. in Marketing & Management from Siena in 1987, and earned his M.S. in Sports Marketing & Management from UConn in 1991. A two-year team captain, he was named to the ECAC Division I All-Star Team following his junior season, and was inducted into the Siena Athletic Hall of Fame in 1999. Craig and his wife Carol (Siena class of 1985) have three grown children – Sara, Laura and Joe.
