Becca Saal Announces She’s Stepping Away from Volleyball Program

11/18/2022 4:00:00 PM

WAUKESHA, Wis. – Head Volleyball Coach Becca Saal is announcing her departure from the Carroll University volleyball program. Saal will stay with the team until February 3, to ensure a smooth and proper transition with a new head coach.

"Coach Saal has been a valuable leader of women for 13 years, and I truly appreciate all she has done in that time," says  Director of Athletics Michael Schulist. "She has been a class act since her first day on campus, and I wish her and her family nothing but the best in their future endeavors."

"Carroll has been home for many years and I will miss working alongside the special people who make it a great place to work," says Saal. "I've enjoyed every moment working with the student-athletes here, and I thank them for letting me be their coach. I'm looking forward to continuing coaching at the high school level and spending more time with my family."

Saal led the Pioneers in 2022 to their best regular season since 2018. In Saal's 13 years with the Pioneers, she has amassed 161 total victories, including ten seasons of double-digit wins. In 2018, Saal and the program went 19-10, qualifying for their first-ever CCIW Volleyball Tournament as a No. 3 seed. In the Midwest Conference, Saal and the Pioneers were runners-up in the league with an 8-2 conference record. Academically, Saal and the Pioneers have made the American Volleyball Coaches Associations Team Academic Award List eight times in a row.

A National search for the next Head Women's Volleyball Coach will begin immediately.
