ONEONTA, N.Y. – Director of Athletics, John Czarnecki recently announced the hiring of Jerry Tine as the next Head Men's and Women's Track and Field Coach at Hartwick College.

Tine has extensive coaching experience beginning with his position as a Graduate Assistant Track and Field Coach for field events at Eastern Kentucky University.  From there, the SUNY Cortland graduate has worked at both the high school and college levels throughout his career, most recently serving as the Head Indoor Track and Field Coach for Proctor High School.

In addition to coaching, Tine has been employed as a Physical Education Instructor in the Utica City School District since 1992.  He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education from SUNY Cortland, and his Master of Science degree in Physical Education from Eastern Kentucky University.  He is also a USAFT Certified Level 1 Track and Field Coach.

"I am very excited to be the new Head Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field Coach for the men and women at Hartwick College," said Tine.  "There is a rich history of great athletic achievement in the past at Hartwick College and I am looking forward to developing the talent within the program at Hartwick."

Tine added, "I would like to thank Mr. Czarnecki and his search team for granting me this wonderful opportunity"

"It was evident to me and others during the process that Jerry wanted to be a Hawk and felt that Hartwick was the perfect fit for his experience and expertise to grow the program," remarked Czarnecki.  "We are glad that he has accepted our offer to join the Hartwick Athletics family.  I expect that he will hit the ground running and build a very successful and competitive track and field program here at Hartwick."

Tine will assume his duties on Monday, January 30.
