WEATHERFORD PROMOTED TO ASSISTANT ATHLETIC DIRECTOR

Briar Cliff Athletics announced the promotion of women's head volleyball coach Lindsey Weatherford, to Assistant Athletic Director / Senior Women Leader, effective immediately. Weatherford has served as the head coach of the volleyball team since 2019 and will continue to coach in addition to her administrative duties. During her tenure as the volleyball coach, the Chargers have received numerous academic and all-conference awards. 
 
Weatherford will oversee eligibility for all athletes involved in the 16 varsity sports that Briar Cliff offers. She will also ensure Charger Athletics is compliant with the NAIA governing body and Great Plains Athletic Conference guidelines as well as Title IX. Weatherford will assist in the travel for all sports teams, along with administrative duties in the athletics department and involvement with game management for varsity contests. 
 
Prior to joining the Cliff, Weatherford held stints at Luther College, Waldorf College, and Kirkwood Community College. At Wentworth Military Academy she was also the Head Volleyball Coach and Assistant Athletic Director performing duties related to travel, scheduling, and personnel management outside of her coaching duties. At Wentworth, Weatherford maintained compliance of all athletics teams adhering to NJCAA, USCAA, and MSHSAA regulations. At Walden Grove High School (AZ) Weatherford taught Journalism to CTE students and was the school's Sports Information Director maintaining the athletics website, sending media-related releases, and tracking statistics for sports teams. She also spent time with the Department of Defense as an Executive Assistant working to implement office systems, processes, data tracking, records management and was a defense travel system administrator.
 
She earned a Bachelor of Special Studies in Physical Education/Wellness with an emphasis in Athletic Training from Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa. She also holds a master's in education with a Coaching Concentration from The Defiance College in Defiance, Ohio along with a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Special Education from Pima College in Arizona. She is currently pursuing her doctorate degree in Educational Leadership from Arkansas State University.
