Tommy Donovan Tabbed as New Assistant AD for Compliance

Black Hills State athletics has announced the hiring of Tommy Donovan as the department's new Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance.

"I am excited to have the chance to work in the BHSU athletic department as the Assistant Director for Compliance," said Donovan. "During the interview process, this position seemed like a great fit for both parties. I had a great experience during my five years as a Yellow Jacket student-athlete, so I am eager to get back on campus - though this time in a new capacity."

Donovan was most recently a member of the Yellow Jacket Men's basketball team from 2018-2023 where he was a member of both NCAA Final Four teams.

The Carlisle, Iowa native was a Valedictorian in high school, and excelled in the classroom at BHSU as well, earning the NCAA Elite 90 award in the 2021-22 season, the 2020-21 RMAC Summit Award, and was name RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll four times.

Donovan was a pre-law undergraduate, earning his degree with a 4.0 GPA, and simultaneously worked for three years at a law firm. He then earned his master's degree in strategic leadership in 2023.

He spent a year in Catholic seminary doing a pastoral year, but discerned out. Donovan enjoys the black hills area, and the outdoor activities like hiking and fishing it provides.
