Lucie Roy Elevated to Head Coach of Adrian College Rowing

ADRIAN, Mich. – Athletic Director, Craig Rainey, announced the promotion of Lucie Roy as head coach of the Adrian College men's and women's rowing program. Roy has spent the fall of 2023 as the Acting Head Coach of the program where Adrian competed in their fall events including the annual Head of the Charles.

Lucie Roy is in her second year with the Adrian College rowing program, and stepping into the Head Coach role after being an assistant coach during the 2022-2023 season.

Roy's rowing experience started in 2014 as a freshman at Pioneer High School in Ann Arbor, Michigan. In 2015, she won gold medals in both the first novice eight and the lightweight novice four categories at the Midwest Regional Championships. Her team won Michigan State Rowing Championships during every season of her high school career. Roy was named captain during her senior season.

Roy continued rowing at Michigan State University from 2019 to 2022 while pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. She was named a B1G Distinguished Scholar during her sophomore and junior seasons, and earned Academic All B1G Selections every year. Her collegiate rowing career ended with a fourth-place finish in the first varsity four category at the B1G Championships, beating two nationally ranked teams with a time of 7:22.1.

Roy is honored to earn the opportunity to step into the head coach role for the 2023-2024 season. "I'm so proud of the history both teams made last year," she said. "Enthusiasm doesn't even begin to describe my feelings towards this upcoming year. I look forward to helping both teams grow on the momentum from last season, and to laying down some more historical markers for the program."

The team's fall season has concluded and will resume action in the spring of 2024.
