MILWAUKEE – Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) athletics is excited to announce the hiring of Baylee Wellhausen as the head coach for the women's hockey team.

"I am extremely honored to be stepping into this role at such a prestigious organization as MSOE" said Wellhausen. "This program embodies what it means to achieve the perfect culmination of academic and athletic success, and it is a privilege to be a part of it all."

Wellhausen is no stranger to collegiate hockey as she played at the University of Wisconsin-Madison from 2014-2018. For the Badgers, Wellhausen totaled 42 career goals and 29 career assists in 155 games played. The Badgers made the Frozen Four three of her four seasons with the Badgers, won three Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) championships, and was also named Captain during her senior season.

Wellhausen has been involved with promoting the sport hockey since her days at Wisconsin, serving as a color analyst for the Milwaukee Admirals during the 2018-19 season, as well serving as the lead color commentator during the U18 Women's World Hockey Championships. During the 2021-22 season, Wellhausen competed in the Professional Women's Hockey Players Association (PWHPA) for the Midwest Region, one of the few professional leagues in the sport for women.

"I am truly thrilled to help write the story of women's hockey at this university. With my extensive experience as a female athlete, I recognize the importance of fighting for more awareness, recognition, and the overall growth of women's sports, and I hope to be a catalyst in building only the strongest foundation for the first women's hockey team in MSOE's history! I can't wait to start this journey. Go Raiders!"
