NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State Interim Director of Athletics Dr. Jeri Beggs has been appointed to the NCAA Division I Committee on Academics, effective immediately.
The Division I Committee on Academics supports the primacy of the Association's academic mission through the management of Division I academics matters, including policy, eligibility standards, and the NCAA Division I Academic Performance Program (APP).
"I'm happy to be back on the Committee on Academics after several years away," Beggs stated. "It has been one of my favorite committees over the years, with an outstanding culture and a true dedication to the best academic outcomes for our student-athletes."
Beggs has served as Illinois State's Interim Director of Athletics since May 1 of 2023, when she was appointed to the role by Illinois State University Interim President Aondover Tarhule. Prior to taking over her role with Illinois State Athletics, Beggs served as the Faculty Athletics Representative at ISU for 14 years and has a long history of service to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Missouri Valley Conference (MVC), and Illinois State.
She previously served nine years on the Committee on Academics including chair of the Subcommittee on Penalties and Appeals and served on the Faculty Athletics Representative Association (FARA) Executive Committee for 12 years, leading the group as president in 2016-2017. She completed her final year on the NCAA Division I Board of Directors as the only FAR on the Board this past summer, and recently served on the prestigious NCAA Transformation Committee.
