Dyson Steps Down as Women's Head Soccer Coach

Lincoln, Nebraska (January 17, 2023) - Nebraska Wesleyan's Jen Dyson announced her decision to step down as head women's soccer coach after five years of leading the program. Dyson came to Nebraska Wesleyan University from Westminster College, where she served as the head women's soccer coach for nine years (2009-2017).

"After 16 years of coaching college soccer, the last five seasons of which have been at NWU, I have decided to step down as head women's soccer coach," said Coach Jen Dyson. "I would like to thank Ira Zeff, Jo Bunstock, Dwight Merilatt, and President Good for giving me the opportunity to help lead and develop this program during my time. I also want to thank all my assistant coaches as well as the hundreds of players and their families that have put their faith in me to help coach and mentor their kids through college. Nebraska Wesleyan has been a special place for me and I am thankful my next step keeps me here at NWU. My family and I appreciate everyone that has made this such an enjoyable experience. I am excited for the next chapter for me and my family and also what lies ahead for Nebraska Wesleyan Women's Soccer."

Dyson finished her NWU coaching career with a 33-37-1 and earned a spot in the NCAA III North Region rankings in 2019. Seven players were selected to the A-R-C All-Conference team and seven earned CoSIDA Academic All-District honors. Dyson also coached a top-10 goalie in program history (Liz Wolf). She leaves the program with the third most wins at NWU.

"I want to thank Jen for her dedication and hard work in regards to her leadership of our women's soccer program," said Athletic Director, Dwight Merilatt. "In my short time working with Jen, I knew her commitment to her student-athletes was always her number one priority. Jen has been an integral part of our athletic department for the last five years and will be greatly missed by our head coaching staff. But we are also excited that she will continue to be a valuable part of the Nebraska Wesleyan community by working in our Student Life Division."

Dyson wishes continued success to Prairie Wolf student-athletes and coaches. Despite, stepping down from her coaching duties, Dyson will stay on campus and work in Student Life as the Project Director for Coordinated Community Response Team.

Nebraska Wesleyan will be naming a new head women's soccer coach in the near future.
