ALLIANCE, Ohio - After nearly 12 years, Mount Union's first-ever women's lacrosse coach, Emily Fisher has resigned to pursue her late brother's Foundation, The Joe Baab Culinary Fights Cancer Foundation. With the completion of her 10th season this past year, Fisher has etched in the NCAA records as one of women's lacrosse's all-time winningest coaches with a .858 win percentage.

"This decision was one of the hardest my family and I ever had to make," Fisher said. "Since our official launch in August, the foundation has taken off quicker than any of our wildest dreams. As difficult of a decision as it was to make - just as a cancer fighter pointed out to me at our last event - I have found my purpose in life and I need to pursue it. I am so thankful for my time at Mount Union and will always cherish the memories, relationships, and many friends I made along the way - it was an extraordinary journey that will always be a part of me and holds a special place in my heart."

"We thank Emily for all she has done for Mount Union Women's Lacrosse and Mount Union Athletics," said Mount Union Director of Athletics Mike Parnell. "As the first head coach in the history of the program, Emily has laid a foundation with champion standards on and off the field. Her passion for Mount Union was evident and we wish nothing but the best with her future endeavors."

Fisher led the Purple Raiders to a 140-23 record over the last 10 seasons with six trips to the NCAA Tournament, six Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) regular season and tournament titles, three undefeated regular seasons, and national rankings numerous times. Even from the inaugural season of the program, the Raiders never had a losing season and were always in contention for a championship. Mount Union advanced to the NCAA Regional Semifinals Round of 16 twice.

Fisher received numerous coaching accolades including Great Lakes Region Coach of the Year and served on various lacrosse committees including the NCAA National Committee for Women's Lacrosse.

In 2019, Fisher opened up about coaching and her brother's battle with cancer as an op-ed piece featured in  IWLCA's  "Behind the Whistle" and Inside Lacrosse.

The Joe Baab Culinary Fights Cancer Foundation is a 501c3 non-profit organization that provides free-of-charge cooking classes to cancer patients and family members and is partnered with and led by Cleveland chefs and restaurants. Fisher, alongside her late brother, Joe - who battled colon cancer for three years - co-founded the organization. Ever since the foundation's official launch, classes have been selling out and gaining the attention and support of some of the best chefs and restaurants in Cleveland. The organization was last featured on WKYC's morning show in November
