Liberty Adds East Carolina Series to Future Football Schedules

With its inaugural Conference USA schedule set, Liberty now turns its attention to filling its future football schedules, beginning in 2024.
Today, Liberty announces a home-and-home series with East Carolina. The series begins with the Pirates visiting William Stadium in Lynchburg on September 21, 2024.
Liberty will complete the series by traveling to Greenville, N.C., for a game at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium on September 22, 2029.
The home-and-home series marks the first-ever meeting between the two programs and Liberty’s first meeting against a member of the American Athletics Conference since the Flames moved to the FBS level in 2018.
East Carolina is coming off an 8-5 season with a 4-4 AAC record. The Pirates finished off the 2022 campaign with a 53-29 win over Coastal Carolina in the TicketSmarter Birmingham Bowl in Birmingham, Ala., on December 27.
Last week, Conference USA announced its 2023 schedule. The schedule featured eight conference games for the Flames, including five midweek league contests for Liberty.
The eight-game conference schedule will put the Flames in a position to challenge for their first conference title in football since the 2016 season.
Liberty will play two of its five midweek conference games at home in 2023, featuring a Thursday night game against Sam Houston State on Oct. 5 and a Tuesday night contest against Middle Tennessee on Oct. 17.
Conference USA will play its entire October slate during the midweek. Liberty will also have midweek games at FIU (Thursday, Sept. 28), Jacksonville State (Tuesday, Oct. 10) and Western Kentucky (Tuesday, Oct. 24).
Liberty will play its first-ever Conference USA game when the Flames welcome New Mexico State back to Liberty Mountain on Sept 9.
