GREENSBORO, N.C. – Spartans Unite announced today its establishment in supporting name, image, and likeness (NIL) opportunities for all UNC Greensboro (UNCG) student-athletes.
Spartans Unite is a third-party entity with a mission to create and develop NIL opportunities for all UNCG student-athletes through a variety of avenues such as youth sports camps, film commercials for a business, autograph items for a charity event, marketing partnerships and much more.
"We are very excited to open up NIL opportunities for our Spartan student-athletes with this next chapter," stated Director of Athletics Brian Mackin. "NIL collectives at the mid-major level are growing and we want to be at the forefront of changes to help benefit our Spartans effectively and compliantly. Spartans Unite will bridge the gap for those that take advantage of it."
The collective, co-founded by Tyler Key and Jason Knight, is aiming to help UNCG student-athletes garner NIL opportunities through local businesses or individuals acting as a liaison. Spartans Unite is not officially affiliated through the University.
Spartans Unite uses funds received from supporters to create NIL opportunities that comply with NCAA rules and state laws for student-athletes.
