Portland State Athletics Director John Johnson has announced the hiring of Jasmine Miller as Associate Athletics Director and Senior Woman Administrator for Vikings Athletics.
Miller comes to Portland State after spending the past five years working at Western Oregon University. Miller has been the Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance and Student Services at WOU since 2020. Prior to that she worked in athletics administration for the Wolves.
"We are thrilled to bring Jasmine on to our staff on the Park Blocks. Through our interview process she showed great interest in the well-being of student-athletes and in helping develop a stronger and more vital program at Portland State," Johnson said. "She brings great energy and knowledge and has a hometown connection that we like."
Miller will work in the area of student-athlete services, oversight of NCAA reporting, ensure compliance with all aspects of Title IX and be an advocate for women's athletics. Jasmine will be a member of the department's senior leadership team.
"I want to bring a high quality experience to the student-athletes at Portland State, help graduate them, give them a championship experience and have them leave here as better people," said Miller. "I love the holistic part of college athletics and want to be part of that change that they experience."
Miller earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Business from Western Oregon in 2018, while minoring in Sports Management. She received her Master of Education, Information Technology from WOU in 2020. Miller was also a member of the women's basketball program for four seasons.
A native of Tualatin, OR, Miller's parents are Portland State alums. Father, John, played football for the Vikings and was a member of the 1987 and 1988 teams that played for an NCAA II National Championship. Her mother, Samantha, was a four-year letterwinner in the softball program.
"My parents were student athletes at Portland State and that was the school I was rooting for when I was a kid," Miller said. "I have always had a passion for PSU Athletics. Now, I want to give back to that community and the student-athletes who come to the university, and help give them a well-rounded experience as Vikings."
Miller will begin her role at Portland State on Sept. 12.
