Saxons Announce Schurr as Associate Athletic Director

ALFRED, NY – The Alfred University Athletics Department has named Erin Schurr as the Associate Athletic Director ahead of the 2023-24 athletic season.
 
"I am thrilled and honored to be taking on this role within the Alfred University Athletic Department," Schurr said. "Deb's vision for the department stood out through our conversations and I am humbled that she trusted me to help carry out that vision. The Saxon Athletic Department prides itself on the student-athlete experience and I'm eager to become immersed in their culture!"
 
Prior to coming to AU, Schurr was the head coach of the Medaille University women's lacrosse program. While at Medaille, she also was the NCAA Compliance Coordinator and Travel & Contest Coordinator.
 
"I am ecstatic to have Erin join our Saxon team," Associate Vice President for Student Experience, Athletics & Recreation, Deb Steward said. "Her experience has prepared her well to assist in leading our department."
 
As the Medaille NCAA Compliance Coordinator, Schurr managed all aspects of NCAA, conference and institutional rules for the intercollegiate athletic programs. She created, coordinated and implemented a system to manage rosters, eligibility, academic standing, compliance paperwork and medical clearance. She also created and facilitated rules-education programs within the department.
 
As the Travel & Contest Coordinator, Schurr managed all aspects of travel and contest coordination as well as game contracts (both home and away) and securing home officials.
 
Prior to Medaille, Schurr was the head coach of the SUNY Polytechnic women's soccer and lacrosse teams for five years. For two years prior to the head position, Schurr was the assistant coach for both programs and was the assistant women's lacrosse coach at SUNY Geneseo for a year prior SUNY Poly.
 
Schurr is a graduate of Fredonia, earning her B.S. in Sport Management. She then earned her Masters in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University Irvine.
