BUFFALO – D'Youville University and the Executive Director of Intercollegiate Athletics, Ona Halladay, announced the hiring of Woody Stark as the new Head Women's Rowing Coach.
 
Woody Stark joins the Saints after his time at Lake Oswego Community Rowing as the Varsity Men's Coach and Director of Fleet Maintenance since the spring of 2021. At Lake Oswego, Stark led the men's varsity 4 to the Head of the Charles where the team placed 21st out of 84 boats. Stark also led the team to multiple finishes
 
Prior to Lake Oswego Community Rowing, Stark joined the Oregon State men's rowing staff in the fall of 2018 for his second stint along the shores of the Willamette River. He brings considerable experience to the program.
 
In his first season back in Corvallis, the Beavers recorded sweeps over Marist, Gonzaga, UCLA, Santa Clara and Hobart. OSU went on to finish fourth at Pac-12 Championships earned a berth at IRA National Championships. The Varsity 8 finished 20th overall at IRAs with 15th and 14th-place finishes respectively by the Second Varsity 8 and Third Varsity 8.
 
Stark spent the 2017-2018 season as the assistant coach for the Washington State University Men's Club Program working primarily with novice athletes.
 
Prior to WSU, Stark was the assistant coach for the University of Oregon Club program working with the women's team. At Oregon, Stark helped lead the women's novice four to championships at WIRAs and ACRAs Club Nationals. He also assisted with women's varsity four that placed third at WIRAs and fifth at ACRAs Club Nationals, and the women's pair that finished fifth at WIRAs and earned a bronze medal at ACRAs Club Nationals.
 
During the summer of 2016, Stark worked as an intern with the US Rowing Men's Junior National Team High Performance Camp/CANAMMEX teams, and traveled with the HP team to Club Nationals. He spent the 2014-2015 year working as an intern with the Oregon State University women's rowing program working with the walk-on athletes in the fall, and the Third Varsity Eight in the spring that finished fourth at the 2015 Pac-12 Championships. He returned for the fall of 2015 as a volunteer coach with the women's team working with the walk-ons.
 
Stark was a rower and coxswain at Willamette University, graduating with a degree in history in 2004 and began coaching in 2004 with Pacific Rowing Club. Stark has coached at several junior and collegiate programs since.
 
Stark earned a Masters in Education in Intercollegiate Athletic Leadership from the University of Washington in 2015.
