ST. LOUIS – University of Missouri-St. Louis Director of Athletics Lori Flanagan has announced the hiring of Erik Steffenson as Assistant Athletic Director.

Steffenson comes to UMSL after assisting in the daily operations of food and beverage services at the Westport Sheraton and Chalet. He assisted with setup for all the meeting and ballrooms for every event at the facility and coordinated with the managers in the Food and Beverage department about daily tasks.

Prior to that, Steffenson spent three years as the Outside Services Director at Westwood Country Club for three years. In that role he had direct oversight of a variety of member services and participation in the overall management of golf operations for the Country Club.

Steffenson got his start in athletics working as stadium operations manager for the Beloit Snappers, the Single-A affiliate of the Oakland A's, for three years. He was responsible for leading the day-to-day execution of all stadium and food and beverage operations. Steffenson also worked as the head groundskeeper preparing the field for each home game and every other event at the stadium.

Steffenson received his bachelor's degree from the University of Missouri in Parks, Recreation and Tourism with an emphasis in Sport Management with a minor in business in 2016.
