Fernandez Resigns as Chatham Squash Head Coach

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - August 24, 2023 - Chatham Vice President of Athletics and Recreation Leonard Trevino announced Thursday afternoon that Head Men's and Women's Squash Coach Chris Fernandez will be departing from the program.

"We want to thank Coach Fernandez for his efforts and the success he has brought to our programs," Trevino stated. "We wish him all the best."

Fernandez will be moving on to take a position on the coaching staff at Columbia University.

Fernandez spent two seasons leading the Squash programs at Chatham, accumulating a 19-11 record with the Men's side and a 6-22 record with the Women in their first two years as a program.

In 2021-22, Fernandez guided the Men's team to the Barnaby Award, which is given by the College Squash Association (CSA) each year to the most improved Men's program. In 2022-23, the Women's team followed suit by taking home the CSA Women's Most Improved Team Award after a 6-7 season and their first ever postseason victory at the CSA Team Nationals.

The search for Chatham's next Head Men's and Women's Squash Coach will begin effective immediately.
