Troy DeWald hired as Head Men's and Women's Bowling Coach

OWENSBORO, KY - Troy DeWald has been hired as the new Head Coach of Men's and Women's Bowling, as announced by Vice President of Intercollegiate athletics Mark Shook on Thursday.

"I'm excited to welcome Troy to our team of coaches. During the search process, Troy emerged as our top candidate very quickly," said Shook. "He impressed the hiring committee with his teaching philosophy and his focus on the individual, as well as the fundamentals of the game. I am confident he will continue the success we have seen so far in this young program - as well as take us to the next level in terms of our competitiveness within our conference, region, and the nation."

DeWald comes to Kentucky Wesleyan after spending the last few years as the head coach at Ephrata High School in Ephrata, Pennsylvania. Las season at Ephrata, his team was the 2022-23 Section II champions. He also coached the second place finisher in girl's state singles, had a state finalist in boy's state singles, and the team notched a 44 pin improvement from year one to year two. DeWald also has collegiate coaching experience, as since 2019 he has been the head bowling coach of the club team at Millersville University. Prior to his time at Millersville and Ephrata, DeWald was the head coach at Manheim Township High School in 2016, and the head coach of the junior program at Berks Lanes & Clearview Lanes for 17 years.

"I am honored to be the next bowling coach at Kentucky Wesleyan College," said DeWald. "It has been a dream of mine to coach at the collegiate level, and to take over a program as successful as KWC's is an honor. I will give my all each and every day to help each bowler reach and surpass all of their goals. My own goal is to build a program that is one of the best in collegiate bowling. My motto is 'Any Given Day,' and I will make sure we are prepared to compete against the best whenever that time comes."

DeWald is a USBC Certified Coach and earned his Bachelor of Science in Sports Management in 2021 from Southern New Hampshire University, and his Associate of Arts in Education in 2004 from Reading Area Community College.
