Boos to Chair NCAA Division II Volleyball Championships Committee

DULUTH, Minn. – University of Minnesota Duluth Head Volleyball Coach Jim Boos will serve as the chair of the NCAA Division II Volleyball Championships Committee this season.

"I am excited to be back in the Chair position for the upcoming volleyball season and anticipate a fun and challenging season for our committee as we select the teams for the 2023 NCAA DII Volleyball Championships," said Boos. "The other committee members make up a great group of hard working people which will make it an easy group to lead. Plus I get to work directly with the NCAA Assistant Director of Championships, Donisha Carter, who will once again serve as our Volleyball liaison this year."

Boos served previously as the National Chair in 2011 and 2012 and was the National Vice Chair in 2010. He served on the National Volleyball committee from 2006-12 and was re-appointed to the committee in 2020.

Boos will oversee, among other things, the selection, seeding and bracketing of NCAA Division II Women's Volleyball Championship. Other duties include reporting directly to Management Council on matters such as budgetary recommendations. The committee also reviews other issues related to the administration of championships events.

Boos, the winningest coach in program history (536 wins), enters his 22nd year with the Bulldogs program. Under his guidance, UMD has made 18 NCAA Tournaments and won nine conference titles. The five-time Conference Coach of the Year and 2004 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) National Coach of the Year has had the Bulldogs ranked No. 1 in the country 17 times. UMD enters this season ranked eighth in the AVCA preseason poll.

The Bulldogs open their 2023 season in one week at the Ferris State University (Mich.) Invitational.
