ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Webster University Director of Athletics, Scott Kilgallon, has announced the resignation of Mike Siener effective January 6th.

"After 22 years coaching in various roles at Webster University, I have decided to step down as Head Men's Soccer coach." Said Siener. "I would like to thank Tom Hart and Scott Kilgallon for giving me the opportunity to help lead and develop four different programs during my time.  I also want to thank Chris Bunch, Marty Todt, David Kaneshiro, and all my assistant coaches as well as the hundreds of players and their families that have put their faith in me to help coach and mentor their kids through college.  Webster has been a special place for me and my family and I appreciate everyone that has made this such an enjoyable experience. I am excited for the next chapter for me and my family and also what lies ahead for Webster University Soccer."

Siener has served as the Head Men's Soccer Coach at Webster since 2013. He finished his tenure with a 122-53-20 (.677) overall record and a 77-14-9 (.815) mark in conference play. He led his team to five SLIAC Regular Season Titles and two SLIAC Tournament Championships. He was named the SLIAC Men's Soccer Coach of the Year five times and led his team to a NCAA Division III National Tournament appearance in 2021. He coached 68 SLIAC All-Conference recipients, six SLIAC Defensive Players of the Year, four SLIAC Offensive Players of the Year, one SLIAC Newcomer of the Year, two USC Scholar All-Americans, and one CoSIDA Academic All-America.

Siener also served for 12 seasons as the Head Men's Tennis Coach and eight seasons as the Head Women's Tennis Coach from 2006 to 2019. He was named the SLIAC Coach of the Year four times and finished his tennis coaching career with a 100-73 record on the men's side and an 84-26-1 record on the women's side. He led the women's team to three SLIAC titles and the men's team to two while leading the women's team to the NCAA Division III National Tournament in both 2010 and 2012. He is the all-time leader in wins for both the men's and women's tennis programs.

In addition, Siener spent 11 years on the basketball staff at Webster University from 2000 to 2011.  He served as the Head Assistant and Associate Head Basketball Coach under David Kaneshiro and Chris Bunch. Siener served as the recruiting coordinator, Head Junior Varsity coach, and took on various other duties during his time. During his tenure as the lead assistant under current head coach Chris Bunch, the basketball program had an overall record of 121-45 and a SLIAC conference record of 103-31. The men's basketball program won five SLIAC Regular Season Titles and the SLIAC Tournament Championship in 2011.

"I have reluctantly accepted Mike's resignation." Said Kilgallon. "Coach Siener has been a top notch professional and a pleasure to work with over the years. Through hard work and dedication, he leaves the men's soccer team in great shape and is to be credited for elevating the team to rankings at the regional level, consistent strong GPA's of his student-athletes, and sportsmanship recognitions. I would like to wish Mike, his wife Jackie, and their children good luck with his next opportunity."

Webster University will begin a national search to fill the position.
