@MSUDenverTennis: Campos Named Roadrunners' New Head Coach

He's won multiple conference coach of the year honors

DENVER – MSU Denver Director of Athletics Todd Thurman has announced that Bruno Campos has been named the Roadrunners' head coach for men's and women's tennis.

"We're excited that we've been able to have Bruno join our Roadrunner family," Thurman said. "He's a young and energetic coach who will be able to keep the tennis programs moving forward."

Campos had been the head coach at Midland (Neb.) of the NAIA since the 2018-19 season. With Midland, Campos was named the 2022-23 Central Region Coach of the Year by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association as well as the Great Plains Athletic Conference Coach of the Year. Both the Warriors' men's and women's programs earned the ITA's Community Service Award for the region.

Campos was named the GPAC's men's coach of the year for three consecutive seasons while winning GPA women's coach of the year in both 2022 and 2023. The Warriors' men and women were both regular season and conference champions in 2022 and 2023, with the men also winning the title in 2019 and 2021 (the 2020 season was not completed due to the COVID-19 pandemic).

He also served as a graduate assistant at Midland during 2017-18 academic year, helping both the men's and women's teams to GPAC championships – the first for the men since 2001 and the first for the women since 2003.

Prior to becoming a coach at Midland, Campos completed an internship at MF Sports Management in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, managing the department of tennis and performing teaching activities to underprivileged children from several communities.

As a player, Campos led Bethany (Kan.) to the NAIA National Tournament in 2015 and 2016 and to back-to-back Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference regular-season championships. Campos earned Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) Second-Team honors in both seasons and was named the KCAC Newcomer of the Year in 2015.
He was a student assistant at Bethany during the 2016-17 academic year.

At Mt. San Jacinto College (Calif.), Campos was a Pacific Coast Athletic Conference doubles champion in 2014 and a runner-up in 2013.

Before coming to the United States, Campos was an accomplished junior tennis player in his native Brazil.

Campos graduated from Bethany in 2017 with a bachelor's degree in business management. He earned his master's of science degree in adult and organizational learning from Midland in 2019.
