Steubenville, Ohio - The Franciscan Athletic Department is proud to announce the hiring of Tom Costello as their Head Women's Tennis Coach.

As well as his coaching duties, He will continue his role as Program Manager for Concurrent Enrollment on campus. He can be reached at tjcostello@franciscan.edu
"We are excited to have Tom on board for this season." said Assistant Athletic Director Alexis Basil. "I know he is very excited to work with the team, and I am excited to see their continued success under his new leadership."

Prior to working at Franciscan, He served as the Principal for Steubenville Catholic Central High School for five years. While there he served as Head Tennis Coach. He is a graduate of the University of Scranton for his undergraduate studies. He has earned his master's degree and other certifications over the years as well. His sons, Joshua and Tom, were both successful student-athletes that have graduated from Franciscan.  Joining Costello on this year's women's tennis staff will be some familiar faces. Zoey Stapleton returns for her second season as an Assistant Coach after her successful playing career for the Barons. Shannon Irvin will return as a Volunteer Assistant Coach. She has served in a similar facet for seven seasons in the early years of Franciscan Division III Tennis before taking off as one of the best real estate agents in the greater Steubenville area in recent years. The team also needed a new chaplain, as Father Nathan Malavolti T.O.R. was assigned to the Austria campus for the 2023-24 academic year. Father Luke Robertson T.O.R. has agreed to come aboard the staff with his wealth of experience in athletics over the years as a head chaplain, team chaplain and athlete over the years.
