Cameron Whicker Named Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities & Events

CHARLOTTE, N.C.- Queens University of Charlotte Director of Athletics Cherie Swarthout announces the hiring of Cameron Whicker as assistant athletic director for facilities and events. Whicker replaces Randall Goble who was recently promoted to deputy athletic director for the Royals.

"We are excited to have Cam join us as we enter year two of our NCAA Division I transition," Goble stated. "His previous stops in his career have given him a skillset that will help enhance the Royals student-athlete experience as we continue to explore opportunities to better our facilities and events."

Whicker joins the Royals after spending the past two seasons as the assistant commissioner for external operations at the South Atlantic Conference. While there, he was responsible for the development and implementation of the SAC's marketing and branding strategic plan, as well as direct oversight of the leagues corporate partnership program and revenue generating initiatives. Whicker also assisted in championship administration and served as the staff liaison to the Branding and Marketing Committee, as well as other governance committees.

"I am excited to have the opportunity to join the Royals family and contribute to the tremendous growth and momentum Queens University is currently experiencing," Whicker commented. "I would like to thank Randall Goble and Cherie Swarthout for entrusting me with this new role. I am looking forward to working with an athletics staff that is committed to excellence and providing a first-class experience for the student-athletes and Queens community at-large."

Prior to joining the SAC office, Whicker spent seven years at Lincoln Memorial University as the assistant athletic director for internal operations. In his role, he served as a member of the senior leadership team and had primary oversight of business operations, game management, marketing, and communications for LMU's 25 intercollegiate athletic programs. He also managed critical projects related to enhancements and maintenance of the Railsplitters' new and existing athletic facilities.  Additionally, Whicker was pivotal in the development and implementation of fundraising initiatives, aimed to expand the department's resources and enhance the overall student-athlete experience.

Before taking on the assistant athletic director role at LMU, Whicker served as the assistant basketball coach for the Railsplitter men's basketball team for three years. During that time, LMU captured three SAC Regular Season and one SAC Tournament Championship while compiling a record of 83-12.

Whicker holds a bachelor's degree in sports management from High Point University. He also received a master's degree in education and administration from LMU.
