Albany State University Announces Assistant AD for Student-Athlete Success and Compliance/SWA

Dr. Kristene Kelly, Director of Athletics at Albany State University, is proud to announce Shaquana Miller as the new Assistant AD for Student-Athlete Success and Compliance/SWA (Senior Woman Administrator).
 
"We are thrilled to welcome Shaquana Miller to the Albany State RAMily as our new Assistant AD for Student-Athlete Success and Compliance/SWA," said Kelly. "Her passion for student-athlete success and commitment to compliance will undoubtedly fuel our program's continued growth and excellence."
 
Most recently, Miller served as an Athletic Sports Consultant for the Association of Young Christian Higher Ed Professionals. In that role, Miller consulted with various clients and organizations such as sports leagues, sports teams, and college athletics departments on marketing initiatives, departmental structure protocols, and staff development. 
 
From 2019 to 2021, Miller served as the Head Volleyball Coach and Coordinator of Compliance at Edward Waters University. Miller was responsible for successfully coaching, mentoring, developing, and managing a collegiate volleyball program. Miller also coordinated and maintained the academic efforts for all student-athletes, transfer students, and students. 
 
Miller also served as the Assistant AD of Student-Athlete Academic Support & Compliance Coordinator as well as the Head Volleyball Coach at Virginia Union University from 2016 to 2018. Miller maintained institutional control of the compliance system for the university's athletic programs. She also developed procedures and policies to monitor and ensure NCAA Division II compliance with all NCAA and conference rules and regulations.

In 2008, Miller graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education and Child Development from Fayetteville State University in Fayetteville, NC. In 2011, Miller earned her Masters of Professional Studies in Sports Management from Georgetown University in Washington, DC. Miller is currently enrolled in the North Central University Doctor of Education program, with an emphasis on Sports and Athletic Management. Shaquana is expected to complete her degree in the summer of 2026. 
 
"I had the privilege of witnessing Shaquana's remarkable talent as a student-athlete at FSU, and now, seeing her rise as a professional, I'm reminded of the profound impact that we as HBCU educators can have," Kelly continued. "It is a full-circle moment, and I am thrilled that our Golden Ram student-athletes will now benefit from her leadership." 
 
Shaquana is a 2020 Sports Hall of Fame Recipient, 2-Time NCAA Intercollegiate Head Coach, a National Women's Coaches Academy Recipient- Class of 2016, and a member of NACADA. As captain of the FSU Volleyball team, Shaquana led the Lady Broncos to an 18-0 record and a CIAA Championship. She is an Arthur Ashe Scholar and a USOC F.L.A.M.E Recipient. In 2021, Shaquana was named to the Fayetteville State University Board of Visitors for her philanthropic efforts and commitment to her beloved institution. 
 
Shaquana is a native of Richmond, VA. She is married to Mandrake Miller, and the couple has one child, Madison, and a dog, Max. Miller is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
