ST. LOUIS – University of Missouri-St. Louis Director of Athletics Lori Flanagan has announced that Amanda Scott has resigned from her position as head softball coach.

Scott, who completed her seventh season with the program this spring, ends her UMSL career with a record of 205-137. Her seven seasons as head coach are most in program history while her 205 wins are second most all-time in program history.

"We thank Amanda for her commitment to the University and UMSL Athletics during her tenure," Flanagan said. "We appreciate her dedication to the softball program, but more importantly, to the development of the young women that were involved in the softball program. We wish her nothing but the best in her future endeavors."

During her time at the helm of the program, Scott guided the Tritons to the GLVC Tournament five times, winning titles in 2017 and 2019, and four NCAA Tournament appearances. Her teams won at least 30 games in a season four times.

"I am so beyond thankful for the opportunity to lead this program for the past seven years," Scott said. "I care about this program deeply and I have loved this job very much. Coaching has always been about the relationships for me and that is the part I will miss the most.  I'm so appreciative of every student-athlete that has been a part of this program, as well as their families. 

"I want to thank Lori Flanagan for trusting me with this program," Scott continued. "I want to also thank my assistants Lauren Lappin, Matt Alvarado and Chelsey Mulligan, and my colleagues at UMSL and in the GLVC.  I am excited to see this program continue to grow and I could not be prouder of the group that will take the field this year.  I told our athletes that it was always my hope they leave this program feeling like they had the time of their lives and they were so happy they did it.  As I transition out of coaching, it's exactly how I feel now.  What a ride!"

In her initial season with the Tritons in 2017, Scott directed the program to a 42-15 mark including 17-7 in the GLVC, the program's fourth straight GLVC title and the number one seed in the NCAA Midwest Regional.

In the third season under Scott's guidance, UMSL posted a record of 35-19 and won their fifth GLVC title in six seasons. She was named the GLVC's Coach of the Year in 2019.

This past season, the Tritons finished with a record of 34-22 including 16-8 in the GLVC and were the number two seed in the conference tournament. UMSL advanced to the semifinal round of the tournament and earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Scott coached 17 players to All-GLVC honors, eight were named all-region and three earned All-America honors.

A search for a new head softball coach will begin immediately.
